A gate valve is a common type of valve primarily used to control the flow of media within a pipeline system. It achieves the opening or closing of the fluid passageway by the vertical movement of the gate (i.e., the gate plate). When the gate plate is fully raised, the medium can flow freely through the pipeline; when the gate plate descends to contact the sealing surface, it blocks the flow path of the medium.
